Chocolate Chunk Banana Bread

This is not your average banana bread! The extra moisture from the banana and delicious chocolate chunks in every bite. Make it your own by adding your favorite nuts or topping it with frosting or whipped cream.


  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 overripe bananas, mashed
  • ⅓ cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of your favorite San Jose Chocolate, chopped


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease 9x5 baking pan and set aside.
  2. Mix flour, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl, set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, add butter to mashed bananas. Stir in eggs, sugar and vanilla extract.
  4. Slowly add flour mixture to wet mixture until just mixed.
  5. Fold in chocolate chunks
  6. Bake in 9x5 baking pan for 40 minutes to 1 hr or until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Top with Chocolate San Jose Ganache or your favorite frosting! (optional)
